The mighty A1 Pacific Class Flying Scotsman was built in 1923 and initially employed on the express East Coast line with the LNER. She was saved from the scrap once in 1963, by enthusiast Alan Pegler, and again in 1996 by Tony Marchant. She was bought by the National Railway Museum in 2004 and after a 10 year restoration programme, completed in January 2016, the world’s most famous steam locomotive is back on track!
